ABOUT
ME

Born and raised in Phoenix, AZ,  Mary Townsend worked as an Actor and Hair & Makeup Designer in the heart of the valley for many years. As of 2022, she now calls the windy city of Chicago her home, where she loves to ride bikes, eat great food, and avoid the winter weather! She dabbles in voice-over work, modeling, costume construction, and SFX blood-making which always keeps her landlord guessing. Mary can often be found curled up with her cat, Imogen, watching Grey's Anatomy reruns and dancing along to her 2000's Pop Hits playlist on Spotify.

Mary is a graduate from Arizona State University where she obtained her B.S. in Communication and a minor in Theater. In 2017, she spent the summer abroad at Shakespeare's Globe Theater in London, studying the history, language, application, and original practices of Shakespeare.

On this site, you can get to know Mary and view her work, both on and off stage, through a series of photos and her resumes. Also feel free to reach out in the Contact section to share your thoughts, love, or projects!

About

Reviews

"Mary Townsend positively soars in her role as Shauna, the more relatable girl in the clique. She brings out the vulnerability in Shauna that makes her feel truly human, even in her mean moments. Townsend has one of the clear standout performances of the play."
- PHX Stages (The BURN; Arizona Premier - Shauna)

"More giggles in store in Act 2, when Harrison Lampert (Rosencrantz) bumbled, fumbled, and stumbled his way onstage, befriended and ballyhooed by Mary Townsend Cahoon as Guildenstern. Every scene with these two was L.O.L. funny! And again, it was the actors’ postures, expressions and intonation – in a word, their acting – that morphed Shakespeare’s lines into one-liners.."
- Buzz Center Stage (Hamlet - Guildenstern)

"Harrison Lampert and Mary Townsend Cahoon as Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are hilarious, and bring much-needed light to the darkness of this tragedy. Their physical comedy acts as a fun contrast to Fox’s dark and broody Hamlet, and elicited outbursts of laughter from this particular audience."
- Third Coast Review (Hamlet - Guildenstern)
